Writers... Photographers...—talk to us!
It starts with the writing and photographs in Adventures NW and the recognition of an imperative that we all need to be more connected with our outdoor environment: camping, running, skiing, cycling, climbing, fishing, walking, sailing, hiking, contemplating…adventures to enliven ourselves and our families more fully. These are the adventures we want to share with our readers, be they elite or casual racers, twice-a-year family hikers, organized trip participants, a couple just discovering what’s outside, or armchair adventurers. Be they native to the area, camera-toting tourists from Wisconsin, or anyone in between, your writing and pictures can reach them through the pages of Adventures NW.
We’re doing what we do because we love it, and we’re looking for quality contributors who feel the same. Face it, living and playing in and around the Pacific Northwest is a good thing, whether it’s hopping through first-run new powder at Baker, cycling through the tulip fields of Skagit Valley, trail running up Chin Scraper on Chuckanut Mountain, gunkholing about a new cove on Lopez Island, or mountain biking above Sedro Woolley. Share your passion with readers of Adventures NW .
Stories
Feature Articles on outdoor activities and adventure are welcome but generally limited to Whatcom, Skagit, Island and San Juan counties and surrounding area (roughly the Cascades to the San Juan Islands, north of Seattle to Vancouver, B.C.). Personal narratives, area descriptions, environmental/conservation issues, wildlife exposés, historical anecdotes: we’re open to all. Length should be in the range of 800-1,400 words. Please send a detailed query by the date (below) relevant to your story.
Personal Essays are also a semi-regular part of the magazine, if they’re appropriate to the season, etc. These essays should be thoughtful, entertaining and well-informed. Writing more on the reflective side is good for these pieces.
